February 10, 2020 – Yup, it was water weight. Yesterday I weighed in at 312. The day before 308.
That was less than a MINOR set back. Barely a hiccup!

February 10, 2020 New Low Point

Having run out of my weekly supply of grilled chicken and salmon, I found some Mahi Mahi frozen (Trader Joe’s). I put in toaster over, still frozen solid with some Zombie Hot Sauce, fresh ground salt and pepper and a bag of frozen pineapple tidbits, also from TJs. Yummy. I at all 16oz of fish and all the pineapple. While not as pretty (hence the lack of #foodporn on instagram) the spicy sweet flavor was perfect.

Next I was walking up the monstrous hill to catch a bus to the club, walking nearly a mile from Port Authority to 53rd and 8th.

While teaching a 3-hour class and hosting a show, I sporadically nibbled on three protein bars. ONE Cinnamon Roll, THINK Lemon Bar and THINK Double Caramel Bliss, all have a low GI, with 0-1 sugar. All three brag 20g protein and less than 8g of fat.

I nearly fell asleep at the club. Exhausted! Finally picking myself up I walked back to the bus, then down the hill.

The whole ride I was anxious. I have no protein at the house. The cravings for a lot of bad choices popped in every time the bus passes a Fast Food joint I have avoided for seven months.

The prevailing thought was to hop in the car, before even going inside the house, to go shopping and maybe even grill.

By the time the bus dropped me off, I was ordering delivery.

Mixed grill kabobs and assorted cold appetizers. Beyti offers the most delishous chicken and lamb. I forgot to substitute salad for rice. The assorted dips included lebne, hummus, baba ganoush, a second eggplant salad, tabouli and a pepper based puree.

The dips were mostly for my wife, but by skipping the amazing homemade bread, more like pizza than traditional pita, I could taste.

Most importantly I made sure to guzzled LOTS of water yesterday. The day before I replaced water with three decaf coffees.

I also made sure to reduce the salt for the day.

As a result I purged six pounds of water from the body.

Forward we March….

72lbs since July 1 2019

How?

Food Choices

Breakfast: 10oz NY strip Steak purchased at Trader Joe’s, roasted in toaster oven with a few drops of hot sauce, teriyaki, garlic, salt and pepper. Served with a side of riced cauliflower simply flavored with some drippings from cooking steak. I realized years ago, one of the lowest calorie items on a menu is grilled steak. Red meat gets a bad wrap. The beef is not the problem. The real issue is the salt folks add, or sugar sauces, or worse, the bread, cheese and bacon added in burger form. But a grilled steak, or roasted as long as you trim most of the fat and lose the cooked off juices, beef is a lean protein.

Three protein bars for lunch and snacks –
THINK maple almond with 0 sugars low GI etc

Dinner: Chicken Enchiladas (unfriend corn tortillas) at legit Mexican taco joint…. Spicy green sauce, minimal sprinkled white cheese and sour cream, topped with lettuce and sliced avocado

Skipped the chips & salsa, just one taste of the rice. No beer. No margarita. Just a bottle of water.

Whole Mango for dessert with more water. This place sells sliced mango akin to a street vendor. During the summer I get it with lemon juice and hot pepper powder (similar to the stuff used to rim a bloody Mary). But for winter just the simple sweet. Perfectly ripe!

During Superbowl, no garbage, no alcohol, no wasted calories.

This morning, no regrets.

Movement

Walked 2+ miles round trip commuting to comedy club. First half mile ALL up hill.

Do what you always do, get what you always got!

Coming home meant walking in a cold drizzle. I wanted to hail a cab or call an Uber so bad, but I was determined to walk and burn some calories.

Most of the day was spent Teaching/Producing teen comedy class and show. On feet for three hours out of the five.

Today: lots of office time marketing, taxes etc. Plan to hit the pool this morning.

Have an inspired day all!

How do you commute to work? Getting more steps into day #healthylifestyle #friendssupportingfriends

Today I walked up a massive hill a half a mile to catch a bus from West New York, New Jersey, to my comedy club in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. From Port Authority, instead of taking subway two stops uptown, I walked another 14 blocks, about 3/4 of a mile. I’ll go home the same way, adding up to over two miles.

This is the second weekend doing this both Saturday and Sunday. Both weekends started and ended with a decent meal at home with a couple protein bars and lots of water keeping me going at the club between classes and shows.

Until this summer I bragged that I could walk down the hill to catch the light rail at one station to go to work. Coming home I could get off the train at the top of the hill and walk down.

Of course too often I called my wife to pick me up, or worse, drive in, spending $40+ on gas, tolls and parking.

Eating healthy may sound expensive but losing weight allows you to save a lot of cash in other ways.

How can you get more steps in you day?

I am not a traditional lover of gyms. I am slowly getting the addiction, as workouts get easier and results are obvious.

But I look for ways every day to avoid going by getting in steps other ways.

  • Parking farther away than necesaary at the store, gym, work.
  • Getting off the subway a stop or two early, adding a kilometer or more each way.
  • Taking the steps, skipping the elevator.
  • Doing core tightening of the stomach while driving etc.
  • Skip the coffee shop, go for a walk. The oxygen and blood flow is much more effective than caffiene, anyway.
